Marlene M. Vann

March 21, 1932 — November 14, 2013

Marlene M. Vann, age 81, of Swanton, Ohio, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio and Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, passed away following a long and courageous battle, Thursday morning, November 14, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was born March 21, 1932 in Ontonagon, Michigan to Carl and Mayme (Waisanen) Peterson. She married Russell Vann on November 3, 1955, and he passed away August 13, 1993. Marlene attended the Augustana School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in 1953. She obtained her BSN from St. Frances College in Indiana in 1983.

Marlene was a registered nurse and worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for several years. She was an avid bowler, loved trying her luck at the casino, and traveling throughout Europe and the United States, especially Alaska. Marlene also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, reading, watching game shows, and was a wonderful baker.

Marlene had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carolyn Emery and Victoria (Steve) Jay; son, Dave Vann; 5 grandchildren, Melissa McMillon, Coty (Victor) Jay, Ashley (Andrew) Zeigler, Russell Wadsworth, and Joseph Vann; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Rava; and brother, Dr. John Peterson.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter-in-law, Robin Vann.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 17th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Waterville Community Church, 8217 Dutch Rd., Waterville, OH 43566, where a prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date in Ontonagon, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Swanton Valley Care Activities Fund.

Visitation: Sunday, November 17th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 at Waterville Community Church, Waterville, Ohio

Prayer Service: Sunday at 5:00 pm in the Church

Interment at a Later Date: Ontonagon, Michigan
