Marjorie M. Sloan

Marjorie M. Sloan, age 92, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, December 12, 2014, at the Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center, where she lived the past three years.

She was born May 28, 1922, in Canton, Ohio to Clyde N. and Ollie (White) Plott. She was a 1940 graduate of Middle Branch High School. She attended Canton Business College, then went to work for the Canton Departement of Recreation.

Marge first married Robert C. Stephens. They were later divorced. Secondly, she married Jack D. Sloan on October 31, 1964.

Marge was a secretary with the Hallett Law Offices in Swanton, where she specialized in Probate; she retired at the age of 87. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member for many years. She and her husband, Jack, were active members of Valleywood Golf Club. Marge enjoyed bowling, gardening, knitting, working crossword puzzles, watching the Detroit Red Wings Hockey, and baking dutch apple pie and making cherry cheese cake.

She will be greatly missed by her stepdaughter, Jana (Gene) Broglin of Swanton; grandson, Brian (Jennifer) Stephens, of Canal Winchester, OH; step-granddaughter, Lindsay (Jim) Robinson of Swanton, OH; great grandchildren, Calvin and Kathleen Stephens; step-great grandson, Grant Robinson; and niece, Mary Ann Boyd.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack D. Sloan; son, Robert C. Stephens, Jr.; and sister, Virginia Boyd.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, December 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor J.T. Bean officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
