Marjorie T. Lovejoy, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Saturday evening, September 25, 2010, while celebrating her 89th birthday with her family. She was born September 23, 1921 in Assumption, Ohio, to Henry Bernard and Catherine (Bauer) Myers. On November 4, 1944, she married Harold “Hum” Lovejoy. Together they shared 50 years of marriage until his death on June 20, 1995. Marjorie was a wonderful floral designer, working for Paul’s Flower Shop and My Corner Florist in Swanton up until her 80th birthday. She was also known for being a superb cook and excellent Bridge player.
Marjorie was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish, life member of Valleywood Golf Club, and enjoyed spending time with the Bridge group. When Marjorie could no longer live by herself, her daughter Pat devoted the past 3-1/2 years taking care of her mom in her home.
Marjorie’s family (especially her grandchildren) were the love of her life. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Paula (Mick) Bryan, and Pat Lovejoy both of Swanton, OH; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Lovejoy of Swanton, OH; grandchildren, Jeff (Kristy) Bryan, Brent Bryan, Jennifer (Dan) Grabarczyk, and Robin (Russ) Acino; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Joseph, and Clara Bryan, Katie, Darby, and Jill Bryan, and Keaton Grabarczyk; as well as her sister-in-law, Pauline Lovejoy.
Besides her husband, Harold, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Lovejoy; and sisters, Bereta Clark, Alfreda Kelsey, Helen Bettinger, and Colette Koelsch.
Friends and family may visit Thursday, September 30th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m.. Prayers will begin in the Funeral Home Friday, October 1st at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Holden officiating. Interment will follow at St. Richard’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
