Mareta Mary Snyder

Mareta Mary Snyder, age 86, of Metamora, Ohio, entered into eternal rest Thursday evening, August 22, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. She was born February 3, 1927 in Berkey, Ohio to the late George C. and Louise Ann (Sipe) Simpson. On August 30, 1947 she married Joseph Snyder and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2005.

Mareta was an avid fisherman and looked forward to going to the family cottage with her sons where she spent all her time fishing and preparing for her delicious fish fries. She was also a wonderful baker and enjoyed giving away her treats, along with bags of her fresh caught fish!

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption and its Altar-Rosary Society. She was also a long-time member of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary, Assumption Post #306.

Mareta is survived by her sons, Edward and Dean Snyder; daughter-in-law, Linda Snyder; granddaughters, Brandi (Billy) Waring and Amber Snyder; great-granddaughter, Kelsey Ray Waring; brother-in-law, Father Frederick N. Snyder; and sisters-in-law, Viola Dierkens, Patricia Bronson, and Angie Bodi.

Along with her parents and her husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by her sons, Raymond and Carl Snyder; and brother, John E. Simpson.

Family and friends may visit Monday, August 26th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, where a Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, August 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Michael Dandurand and Fr. Frederick Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ebeid Hospice or Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Mass of Resurrection: Tuesday, August 27th at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption
