Marcos Garcia, Jr.

Marcos Garcia, Jr., age 77, of Metamora, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Monday afternoon, June 24, 2019, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 23, 1941 in Brownsville, Texas to Marcos, Sr. and Margarita (Rosas) Garcia.  He was raised by Bernardo & Carmen (Rosas) Escamilla.  On November 17, 1962, he married Florence Davila.  Together they attended Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption.

Marcos worked as a welder and was a very talented craftsman and musician.  His craftsmanship was superb.  Whatever material he was working with, he would turn into a work of art.  He especially loved working with wood and making furniture and beads for family and friends.  He also made beautiful art glass.  Marcos also played the guitar and accordion and had a wonderful singing voice.

Marcos will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Florence; daughters, Rosa (Jose) Gonzalez, Laurie Garcia (Sylbestre Villegas), Margaret (Shane) Stark and Sheila (Don) Apple; son, Marcos Garcia III; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Julian Moreno, Refugia Moreno and Concepcion Rodriguez.

Marcos was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bernardo & Carmen Escamilla; sister, Rosa Garcia; his brothers, Guadalupe Escamilla, Matias Escamilla,  Bernardo Escamilla Jr., Carlos Escamilla and Esteban Escamilla; and grandsons, Aaron Michael Gonzalez and Marcos Gonzalez. 

Friends and family may visit Saturday, June 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to help pay for services.
