Magdalene Prayter, age 83, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, July 11, 2010, at Swanton Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 24, 1927 in Jellico, Kentucky to Romer Clarence and Elizabeth (Holt) Sandridge. On November 1, 1952, she married LeRoy Prayter. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1993. Magdalene was a homemaker raising her four children. She loved gardening, quilting, and canning vegetables. Her greatest joy was cooking for her family. Magdalene was proud to be a staunch Democrat.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Thelma (Jan) Kachur of Deerfield, MI, James (Belinda) Prayter of Wauseon, OH, Kenneth Prayter of Algonac, MI, and Susan (David) Thompson of Marietta, GA; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Sandridge and Dave Sandridge; and sisters, Gladys Sizemore and Delores Sandridge.

Besides her husband, Leroy, Magdalene was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Aileen Oblisque; and brother, Virgil Sandridge.

Friends and family may visit Tuesday, July 13th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Floyd Vincent officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
