Lydia Theresa Valentine, age 102, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, July 5, 2008 at Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center. She was born March 21, 1906 in Toledo, Ohio to Daniel and Theresa (Tarnotise) Sstenes. She was married to Russell Valentine for 39 years until his death on January 7, 1994.

Lydia was a baker at Schock Bakery for 15 years and was a babysitter and housekeeper for the Frank North family.

She is survived by stepchildren, Lois and Lawrence; several step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Lydia was preceded in death by husband, Ray; her parents; six sisters and stepchildren, Jeri, Datha, Dale, Howard, Gerald and Paul.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9th at 11:00 am at Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lyons Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard Catholic Church or Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center.
