Lorin Arthur Bickford

April 9, 1920 — January 15, 2015

Lorin Arthur Bickford, age 94, of Delta, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the Elizabeth Scott Community. He was born April 9, 1920 in Pentwater, Michigan to Floyd H. and Bertha (Carr) Bickford. He served in the United States Army Air Corp and WWII Veteran. On February 12, 1944, he married his beloved wife, Virginia May Willson. Lorin was a lifelong farmer growing tomatoes, corn, soybeans, wheat and hay. He also raised hogs, steers and dairy cows.

His hobbies included wordworking and making walking canes, and driving his 1929 Model A truck and 1931 Model A in parades. He enjoyed hunting (especially deer, birds and fox) and water skiing and snowmobiling in Upper Michigan. Lorin was a member of Lytton Zion United Church of Christ, Lytton Fox Hunters, Fulton County Farm Bureau, and Sharples Hunters Association. He also enjoyed wintering in Texas for over 32 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Karen (Bob) Grams of St. John’s, MI, Linda (Andy) Nara, of Oakridge, TN, Jeff Bickford of OR; grandchildren, Terri Harger, Lorin, Marc and Matt Grams, Greg and Todd Nara, Abby and Andra Bickford; and sister, Carol Powers of Hart, MI.

Lorin was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 40 years, Virginia; siblings, Thelma, Charles, Norman, Lawrence; great-grandchild, Payton Grams; and longtime friend, Nora Jane Carroll.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 18th from 2-4 to 6-8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Mann officiating. Interment will follow at Dutch Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lytton Zion United Church of Christ or Promedica Ebeid Hospice.

Visitation: Sunday, January 18th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton

Funeral Service: Monday, January 19th at 2:00 pm in the Funeral Home

Interment: Dutch Ridge Cemetery
