Leslie F. Stasa, age 90, of Jasper, Michigan, passed away peacefully, with his daughters at his bedside, Thursday evening, August 2, 2012 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania from kidney failure. He was born May 9, 1922 in Berkey, Ohio to Bartholomew and Frances (Konecny) Stasa. He graduated from Metamora High School in 1940 and attended Michigan State University and Penn State University. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp from 1943 to 1946 in the European Theatre of WWII – including England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Leslie was recipient of 2 Bronze Stars.
On May 11, 1946, he married Lillian Valasek. She preceded him in death on January 6th of this year. Leslie was a life-long farmer and retiree of the Jeep Corp. He devoted his time to the Catholic War Veterans Post #306 in Assumption, Lyons VFW Post #7574, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, Metamora Czech Polka Club, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and was a life-long faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish.
Leslie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Sharon (Michael) Ott, of Allons, TN, Susan (Jim) Bolger of Metamora, OH, Joanne (Rick) Masters of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren, Chris (Becky) Ott, Lesley (Greg) Raney, Patrick Bolger, Tony (Wendy) Bolger, and Sean Masters; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kyle and Kegan Ott, Morgan and Garrett Raney, and Brycen and Lillian Bolger; as well as his sisters, Anna Mrkva, Frances Zientek, Betty Harbal, and Mildred Oliver; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stasa and Ann Puse.
Besides his loving wife of 66 years, Lillian, Leslie was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Steve, John, Tony, and Charles; and sisters, Mary and Rose.

Family and friends may visit Sunday, August 5th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Monday, August 6th at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption.
