LaVern Joseph Sattler died peacefully at home, Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 7:40 pm, after living with leukemia for over 8 years.
Vern was active in the St. Vincent de Paul monthly food distribution at Holy Trinity Parish. His woodworking and gardening played a big part in his unmatched generosity that was showered daily upon his children, grandchildren, friends, relatives and neighbors alike. He spent his lifetime working at Libby Owens Ford glass factory until he retired in 1991.
He was preceded in death by parents, Cecelia and Aloysius Sattler, and brothers Donald and Norman Sattler. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Juanita (Graber) Sattler; brothers, Vincent (Ruth) Sattler, Charles (Nancy) Sattler; sister-in-law, Alice Sattler; children, Rebecca (Vincent) Barry, Brenda (Michael) Stewart, Diane (James) Vincent, Joseph (Kristina) Sattler, Sylvia (Louis) White, Andrew (Alison) Sattler; 26 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 pm on Wednesday July 21, 2010 at Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, with Rosary at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday July 22 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2649 US Highway 20, Swanton, Ohio. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
