Laurence “Larry” Michael Gillen, age 61, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away Wednesday evening, February 10, 2010, at The Toledo Hospital. He was born August 11, 1948 in Wauseon, Ohio, to Maynard and Dorothy (Casler) Gillen. Larry was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Sienna Heights College, and worked as a Subsidiary Liaison for Adrian Steel.

Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving his Corvette, and spending time with his granddaughter, Emma. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Sarah (Adam) Foltz; granddaughter, Emma Jane Foltz; mother, Dorothy Gillen; Christina Gillen; step-children, Charity, Anna, Emily, and Lauren Smith; siblings, Daniel Gillen, Randal Gillen, Peggy Shaffer, Kenny (Jan) Gillen, and Gary (Lisa) Gillen; brother-in-law, Charlie Tomanicek; as well as many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ann & John Malburg, Ed Biniecki, and Grace Maggard.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Maynard, and sister, Sally Marie Hassen.

Friends and family may visit Sunday, February 14th from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m., followed by Funeral Services at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Ron Schock and Rev. Aden Porter will officiate. Interment will follow at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or American Heart Association.
