Kenneth Garlick

Kenneth Garlick, age 89, of Swanton, passed away Wednesday evening, February 12, 2025. Born in 1935, in Metamora to Earl and Agnes (Gibson) Garlick. On September 29, 1956, he married his teenage sweetheart, Marie Stieb, and they built their home and raised their four children on the same property that his family farmed. Kenny was a tool and die maker retiring from Jeep, and an active member of the Gleaner’s South Fairfield Arbor. Kenny was an avid gardener, arborist, and woodworker. He loved to grow his own produce, especially strawberries, and making wooden boxes and step stools for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kenny was a caring husband, father and friend to many; he loved to talk, visit and enjoyed his time at auctions and tractor shows.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marie, and three of his children, Rebecca (Marty) Ott, Jasper, MI, Suzanne Batridge, Lake Zurich, IL, and Stephen (Marcie) Garlick, Berkey, Grandchildren; Carey Root (premature 1979), Curt (Sara) Root, Fremont, Jonas (Caitlyn) Root, CO, Cora Ott (stillborn 1981), Olivia Ott, Toledo, Owen (Brittney) Ott, Wayne, Randall (Jessica) Batridge, Lake Zurich, IL., Peter Batridge, Chicago, IL, Wyatt Garlick (stillborn 2009) Nolan Garlick, Berkey, and ten great-grandchildren. Kenny was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings; Earl Garlick Jr., Mary Ann Garlick, Larry Garlick, and his daughter, Roxanne (Mark) Root, Fremont. 

Visitation will be held Friday, February 21st from 4 to 8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22nd at 11:00 am in the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Amboy Township Cemetery.
