Kenneth Crowell

Kenneth Crowell, age 76, of Lyons, Ohio, died unexpectedly in his home of a heart attack, Monday, January 6, 2014. He was born February 14, 1937 in Metamora, Ohio to Elmer and Lelah (Meyers) Crowell. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Regiment, also known as The Old Guard, and one year in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Marcella (Fruchey) Tredway on July 2, 1970, and she preceded him in death in January of 1998.

Kenneth worked construction as an operating engineer for S.E. Johnson, retiring in 1997. He was a member of East Chesterfield Christian Church in Lyons, the Morenci Senior Center and Lyons VFW Post #7574. Kenneth loved the game of golf and playing cards. He was a very active and social person, and made it a priority to visit people he knew in the nursing home.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Matthew (Evelyn) Tredway of Adrian, MI and Molly (Jack) Graf of Archbold, OH; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Donald Crowell of Morenci, MI, Harold (Ruby) Crowell of Polk City, FL, Jimmie (Marg) Crowell of Fayette, OH, Lula (Louis) Simmons of Wauseon, OH, and Ronald Crowell of Berkey, OH; as well as stepdaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Tredway of Las Vegas, NV; and sister-in-law, Doris Crowell of Lyons, OH.

Besides his wife, Marcella, Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Michael Tredway; sister, Alice Matheny; and brothers, Charles and Floyd Crowell.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora (419.644.3601), where funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Floyd Vincent officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at Winameg Cemetery.
