Kelley Wheeler

Kelley Wheeler, age 42, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 15, 2013, following a long illness. She was born April 28, 1971, in Oregon, Ohio to Myron W. Koontz, Jr. and Diane (Purdy) Frost. She graduated from Perrysburg High School Class of ’89. Kelley married the love of her life, Michael Wheeler on June 24, 2000.

She worked for Green Tree Mortgage Company, and was an active member of St. Richard Catholic Parish in Swanton and its CYO program. Her hobbies included photography and listening to music. Most of all, she loved spending time with family; especially her children. She was known as a kid at heart.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael; daughters, Emily and Katherine; and son, Michael II; father, Myron Koontz; mother, Diane Purdy; stepmother, Pam Koontz; stepfather, James Frost; sister, Kimberly (Michael) Schaefer; brothers, Robert (Leighann) Forbes and Mike (Carla) Forbes; and grandfather, Elbert Purdy. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Mary Wheeler; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Dawn) Wheeler, JoAnn (Walter) Meiring, and Steven (Diana) Wheeler; as well as several nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles and cousins.

Kelley was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Myron and Katherine Koontz; maternal grandmother, Ruth Purdy; aunt, Carol Gottshalk-O’Shea; and father-in-law, Arthur “Mike” Wheeler.

Family and friends may visit Friday, October 18th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, October 19th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Daniel J. Zak officiating and Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz assisting. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Assumption.

Memorial contributions may be made to Michael Wheeler c/o the kids education fund.

Mass of Resurrection: Saturday, October 19th at 11:00 am at St. Richard Catholic Church in Swanton

Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery in Assumption
