Katherine Babkiewicz, age 100, died peacefully, Saturday afternoon, August 23, 2008, at the home of her devoted daughter. She was born January 7, 1908, to the late Andrew and Frances (Szymanski) Rosinski. She was a beloved mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing cards and baking, especially her delicious coffee cake. The sparkle in her bright blue eyes always put a smile on everyone’s face.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Fred) Loch of Swanton, OH and son Norbert Babkiewicz of Toledo, OH; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Babkiewicz, five beloved sisters and three brothers.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the caring staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the compassionate care they gave Katherine in her final months.

Friends and family may visit Thursday, August 28th from 3 to 8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton, where a Scripture service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Prayers will begin Friday morning, August 29th, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Marygrove Immaculate Conception Church, Raab Road in Swanton. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
