Joseph A. Simon, age 65, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal rest, Saturday morning, June 28, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born June 22, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio to Albert A. and Mildred F. (Burghardt) Simon. On April 17, 1971, he married Martha Arnold. Joe was an over the road truck driver for 47-1/2 years. Driving truck was his passion.
When he wasn't driving truck, he enjoyed working on cars - his most recent project was restoring a 1960 Pontiac Bonneville. His other hobbies included fishing and camping. He also was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan.
He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 43 years, Martha; daugther, Patricia Simon (Fiance Chris Sherburne) and son, Timothy (Dawn) Simon; grandchildren, Jackie, Leslie, Spencer, and Dalton; siblings, Mary Roberts, Kathy (John) Tansel, Sandy (Jim) Tucholski, and Noreen (Dick) Sehnert.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joann and Linda; and brother, Ronnie.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday, July 1st from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419.826.2631). A Mass of Resurrection will be held Wednesday, July 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church with Fr. Dave Nuss presiding. Interment will follow at East Swanton Cemetery.
The family extends a heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the Kidney Foundation for the wonderful care provided to Joe.
Memorial contributions may be made directed to the family.
