It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Vernon Peters Jr. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, just 12 days after his 58th birthday.
Known to many as Joey, he was a fighter by nature and had a remarkable ability to persevere through life's challenges, often seeming to have nine lives. Joey's resilience and spirit were admired by all who knew him
Joey is survived by his loving mother, Diane Peters; his devoted sisters, Denise (Robert Reichler) and Rachel (Tim Dunseth); his cherished daughter, Mariah Peters and his five grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews Siera Reichler, Ryan (Hannah) Reichler, Jalen (Junior) Sanabria, Joshua Dunseth, Janelle Dunseth, and Teraun Dunseth; four great-nieces and nephews; and his loyal best friend, Todd Hammer. Joey was predeceased by his father, Joseph Vernon Peters Sr., and his stepfather, Scott Moorehead.
Joey loved growing up in Reynolds Corners, getting in trouble with his friends, being an altar boy while attending Little Flower Elementary and went on to graduate from Roger’s High School in 1984. He was a passionate fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Detroit Tigers, Joey also had a deep love for the music of Pearl Jam. His sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A graveside memorial service to celebrate Joey's life will be held Ottawa Hills Cemetery, located at 4310 Central Ave. Toledo Ohio. Please meet at the front gate on Monday July 8th at 2:00pm where the graveside service will be officiated by Father Auth.
