Joseph D. Navarre, III, age 68, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, April 10, 2015, at Lake Park Comfort Care, with his loving family at his side. He was born October 7, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Joseph D. and Eleanore (Butler) Navarre. On December 10, 1966 he married his beloved wife, Sandy Brown.
Joe was a 1964 graduate of Swanton High School and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for six years. He attended business college for two years, and worked for the Pilliod Cabinet Company and Bush Industries, where he retired from in 2006.
Joe was an avid golfer, and enjoyed fishing and traveling. He especially treasured the time he spent watching his grandchildren play sports.
Joe will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Sandy; daughter, Renee (James) Sutter-Millington; son, Scott (Teresa) Navarre; grandchildren, Meghan Millington, Kaitlyn Navarre, Lauren Millington, Kara Navarre, Sean Millington, Jason Sutter, and Bradley Sutter; as well as his brother, Robert (Ginny) Navarre; sister, Janet (Keith) Newton; and sister-in-law, Diane Navarre.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Ricky Navarre.
Family and friends may visit Monday, April 13th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where a memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., with Pastor Andy Wiegand officiating.
