Joseph Alan Franks

Joseph Alan Franks of Swanton, Ohio, died in an automobile accident, Monday afternoon, April 28, 2014. Joe was a hard working and comical 16 year old who was a Junior at Evergreen High School after transferring there from Swanton High School. He recently was accepted into Four County Vocational School, and planned to attend the University of Toledo and major in Architecture. He loved to cook, play football and basketball, and of course, flirt with the girls. He looked forward going to work with his mother, Carey, as a front desk clerk at H&R Block, and was going to start working at Marco's pizza following his birthday in May.

Joe will be greatly missed by his parents, Robert, Jr. and Carey (Franks) Smart; brothers, Daniel Corley, Andy Smart, Jacob Smart, Robert Smart III, Barbara Smart and Lisa Smart; maternal grandparents, Roberta and Kenneth Henson; paternal grandfather, Robert Smart, Sr.; aunt and uncles, Lara (Chris) Swartz; Chris Swartz and Christopher (Heather) Smart; cousins, Matthew, Alieza, Jonathon, Jordan, and Mya; and many more family and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandmother, Becky Jean Smart.

Family and friends may visit Saturday, May 3rd from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Memorial Service celebrating Joe's life will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made at any Huntington Bank c/o Carey Smart.
