John J. Patek, a lifelong farmer, age 95, of Lyons, Ohio, entered into eternal life, surrounded by his loving family, Saturday morning, October 31, 2015, in his home. He was born June 14, 1920 in North Baltimore, Ohio to Anthony and Frances (Studenka) Patek. John was drafted in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and served as a Military Police. John married his beloved wife, Mary Paluch, when he came home on furlough on July 25th, 1943. Together they raised three children and worked the family farm growing tomatoes and small grain. John was known as a very hard worker.
John was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Assumption. He and Mary wintered in Lake Worth, Florida for over 28 years, where they were members of the Czech Club. John loved playing the accordion and polka dancing with Mary.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary; daughter, Nancy (Jim) Linehan; sons, Richard (Yvett) Patek and Jack (Lynn) Patek; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as several, nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Cindy Linehan; brothers, Martin and Frank Patek; and sister, Mary Ann Nykodem.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, where a Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael Dandurand presiding. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
