Joan M. Darr, age 78, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Thursday morning, October 14, 2010 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. She was born June 29, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Clarisse Hanlon. She was a graduate. of Central Catholic High School and recipient of the Bishop’s Cross. She married her high school sweetheart, Nate Darr on September 5, 1953.

Joan was a devoted homemaker, and mother. She loved gardening and her monthly club, the members included her best friends from grade school: Ninta, Mary, JoAnn, Janie, Carolyn, Dorothy, Marylou, Bernie, and Irma. She also loved her special neighbors, Karen and Mark Secory. She enjoyed her furry and feathery friends. She was a member of St. Richard Church and their Holy Rosary and Altar Society.

Joanie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Nate; her children, Jenni (Tony) Cangiamilla, Cyndy (Cary) Tippin, and Tom (Katie) Darr; sister, Penny (Bud) Weaver; sister-in-law, Anna Rose Darr; 9 gandchildren: Katie, Missy, and Laura Cangiamilla, Matt (Lindsy), Mandy (Cal) Zamer, Eric and Tara Tippin, Katherine and Carolyn Darr; and 2 great-grandchildren, Joey Cangiamilla and Ramzy Zamer.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Frances Darr; and her sister-in-law, Donna Turner.

A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St Richard Catholic Church, 333 Brookside Dr. in Swanton. Fr. Daniel J. Zak will be officiating with Co-Celebrant, Fr. Tony Gallagher. Interment will follow in St. Richard’s Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor’s choice.
