James Joseph Ulrich, age 75 of Swanton, Ohio, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his wife and children, Friday evening, August 24, 2012. He was born July 17, 1937, in Counsil Bluffs, Iowa, to George and Josephine (Jackson) Ulrich. He graduated from Ball State University and on April 2, 1966 married his beloved wife, Betty Hebner.
James worked as a claims manager for American States Insurance Company. He enjoyed the art of woodworking - building Adirondack chairs was his specialty.
James loved spending time with his family, and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 46 years, Betty; daughter, JoAnn Ulrich; sons, Jimmy II (Tangie) Ulrich and Jeffrey (Cyndi) Ulrich; grandchildren, Eric Frantz, Joshua and Haley Ulrich, and Jessica, Danielle, and Emily Ulrich.
James was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Linda Nunn.
Family and friends may visit Monday, August 27th, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where memorial services will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Visitation will continue Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home for those unable to attend the afternoon services. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Promedica Erie West Hospice.
