James Doyle Ray, age 78, of Delta, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Friday afternoon, March 9, 2012, at his home, with his loving family at his bedside. He was born April 9, 1933 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to Wiley and Nina (Gambrell) Ray. On November 17, 1951, he married his beloved wife, Verner Marie Ellis.
In the late 60’s and early 70’s, James played Bluegrass music with Glass City Grass. He worked 30 years as Chief Plant Engineer at American Bakery, and after 15 years working for Nickles Bakery, he retired in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, working Suduko puzzles, and watching his favorite Major League Baseball Team – The New York Yankees. He also looked forward to a scrumptious fish fry and playing a round of golf. But most of all, James enjoyed family get togethers.
Left to cherish his memory is his one true love of 61 years, Marie; sons, Dave (Cheryl) Ray and Pat (Cathy) Ray; grandchildren, AJ (Marie) Ray, Aaron (Jenny) Ray, Jamie (James) Banks, Megan Ray, Ryan Ray, and Nathan Ray; great-grandson, Noah Banks; as well as his brother, Fred Ray; and sisters, LouAnn, Ruby, and Edna; and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, AJ, William, JT, Bud, and Gentry.
