James H. Rains

Calling Hours: Friday, May 18th from 4 to 9 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton

James H. Rains, age 71, lost his battle with cancer, Thursday morning, May 17, 2012. He passed away quietly in his Swanton home. Jim was born February 6, 1941 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to Charles and Illa (Barnhill) Rains. On March 22, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Virginia Grime.

Jim worked 25 years for Swancreek Township, retiring as road superintendent in 1998.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Virginia; daughter, Deborah (Michael) Spirithawk; sons, Jim (Candi) Rains and Ron Rains; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles, Carl, Bill, Earl, Ronny, and Donny; sister, Ella Mullis, all of Williamsburg, KY; and his faithful four-legged companion, Princess.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Pamela McSurley.

Family and friends may gather Friday, May 18th from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Derek Moran officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery on Centerville Road.
