James D. Nowak

James D. Nowak, age 80, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 2, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, following a recent heart attack. Jim was born April 10, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio to Stanley S. and Stella (Jurski) Nowak. Following graduation from Macomber High School, Jim joined the U.S. Navy. On November 21, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Shirley Metzger.

Jim was a tool and die maker at the former New Mather Metal in Toledo for over 40 years, retiring in 2003. He loved spending time raising his German Shepherds, especially his most beloved, Caesar.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley, and their four-legged companions, Champ, Bullet, Jozi, Teddy, Nicky, and Sherlock; as well as Jim's various cousins in Gibsonburg and Toledo, OH and Matthews, NC.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Stanley and Stella; and his sister, Geraldine Nowak.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton (419.826.2631), where funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow at East Swanton Cemetery.
