James J. Louy, age 90, of Swanton, Ohio, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born January 5, 1923 in Toledo to Catherine (Bayer) and Arthur G. Louy. Jim joined the United States Coast Guard and served on the San Pedro during World War II.
Jim was a retired Electrician from Local 8 and an active member of IBEW retirees. He was a member of St. Richard Catholic Parish in Swanton, and life long member of Great Northern Sportsman Club, Old News Boys, Catholic War Vets, American Legion and Coast Guard Frigate Association. He was also an avid Notre Dame and Ohio State College Football fan.
Jim is survived by his sons, Michael (Vicki) Louy and James (Karen) Louy; sisters, MaryAnn Louy and Sr. Mary Immaculata, O.P. (Rita); as well as his grandchildren, James (Jessica) Louy, Scott Louy, Angela (Tony) Gioiella, Stephanie (Joe) Salzmann, Christopher (Chrystal) Louy, Rob (Jeannie) Diehl, and Terri (John) Gibbons; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; and daughter, Janet Brueshaber.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio; especially his special caregivers, Jewell, Maxine, JoEllen, Laura, Karen, Sandy, Ellen and Greg; as well as the administrative staff, Nan and Rachel, just to name of few.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 333 Brookside Drive, Swanton, OH 43558, where a Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00 a.m.. Father Douglas Garand will officiate with Deacon Jerry Ziemkiewicz assisting. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery will be private.
