James Grames

James A. Grames, Sr., age 71, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away Monday morning, April 30, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, at Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster, Ohio. He was born July 6, 1940 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Howard and Bessie (Whitacre) Grames. He was a graduate of Perrysburg High School, Class of ‘58. On June 18, 1960, he married his beloved wife, Shirley Houghton.

James worked his entire life in the grocery business. His most recent employment was at Kazmaier’s as retail manager. James served 14 years on the Perrysburg Volunteer Fire Department.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley; daughter, Debra (James) Slaby; son, James, Jr. (Constance) Grames, Bryan (Sarah) Grames, Kevin (Chrystal) Grames, and Gregory (Robin) Grames; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Helen Rice, Howard (Peggy) Grames, Robert (Geri) Grames, and Sandra (Ankenbrandt).

James was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Logan Grames; and siblings, Donald Grames, Frances Knepper, and Marilyn Lees.

Family and friends may visit Saturday, May 5th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Amboy Township Cemetery.
