James Arthur Gorey, age 65, of Delta, Ohio, died unexpectedly in his sleep, Monday morning, September 15, 2008. He was born September 19, 1942 in Wauseon, Ohio to the late Ernest A. and Mary A. (Krizan) Gorey. Jim was a 1960 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Assumption.

Jim served in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970. He worked at GM Powertrain for 32 years, retiring in 2001. He also was a part-time farmer.

Jim was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, life-member of Catholic War Veterans Post #306 in Assumption and Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his brothers, Ernest (Sharon) Gorey of Delta, OH and Eugene Gorey of Delta, OH; nieces Colleen Gorey and Rachael (Edward) Smith and grand-nieces Cooper and Elizabeth Smith.

Friends and family may visit Friday, September 19th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. followed by a military service. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 20th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption. Fr. Frederick Snyder will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
