James Milton Eggleston, age 78, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. He had fought a long and determined battle with many illnesses since 1979. Jim was born on June 14, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Forrest and Cleo (Young) Eggleston. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On September 7,1957, he married, Evelyn Burroughs.

Jim worked as a corporate accountant for Owens Corning, retiring in 1990, and did tax consulting after his retirement. He was an all around outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, boating, camping and horseshoes. He played football in high school and also was a bowler and loved to travel. Jim was a member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Evelyn; children Lynda (Jeff) Mossing, Laurie (Jim) Larkins, Mark (Beth) Eggleston, and Robert (Tina) Eggleston; brother, Gerry Eggleston; 8 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 1 great- granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Larkins.

Friends and family may visit Friday, September 26th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Brian Haller officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
