James Stanley Duden, age 81, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away early Saturday morning, May 9, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born August 11, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to Stanley and Doris (Rathbun) Duden. Jim graduated in 1945 from Macomber High School. He was a U.S. Navy WWII and Korean War Veteran. On February 25, 1950, he married Elizabeth Williams.
Following honorable discharge from the Navy, Jim served an apprenticeship with the Haughton Elevator Company in Toledo. He worked the next 47 years with them. Jim was a 32nd Degree Mason for 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking, making stained glass and ceramics.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty; children, Dennis (Claudia) Duden and Gary (LuAnn) Duden; grandchildren, Brad Duden (Wendy), Amy Duden (Tim), and Michele Duden (Scott); great-granddaughter (the love of his life), Maggie Duden; sister, Phyllis DiNardo, and his canine buddy, Yoda.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Dorothy Arend.
Services will be private. Arrangements by Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton.
