James D. Adams

September 12, 1945 — April 4, 2013

James D. Adams, age 67, of Swanton, Ohio, died unexpectedly in his home following a brief illness, Thursday, April 4, 2013. He was born September 12, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to Jesse and Marjorie (Wilson) Adams, and graduated from Swanton High School, Class of ’64. Jim was drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam and was honorably discharged a decorated veteran on October 19, 1967. He was the recipient of (2) Purple Hearts and (1) Bronze Star. On January 18, 1969, he married his beloved wife, Judy Decker.

Jim worked at Marks Tractor, W.W. Williams, DeVilbiss and retired from Jeep in 2008 after 27 years. He was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg and the Masonic Fraternity. Jim recently worked part time as a driver for Turbine Standard and enjoyed watching Nascar Racing, fishing, traveling and camping each year at the Fulton County Fair.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 44 years, Judy; mother, Marjorie; children, Linda (Adams) Flathers, Doyle (Karen) Adams, Todd Adams, and Heather (Dave) Corwin; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Barb Poling, Joyce (Jim) May, Mary (David) Morris, John (Donna) Adams, Susie (Phil) Wiland, Les Adams, Richard Adams, Gail (Jack) Sager, Carol (Don) Wiland, Marvin (Darlene) Adams, and Diane (Dale) Irelan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Jesse; and sister, Wilma Stack.

Family and friends may visit Monday, April 8th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 9th at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Don Krieger officiating. Interment, with Military Rites conducted by the Fulton County Burial Squad, will follow at Zion Cemetery in Wauseon.

Visitation: Monday, April 8th from 2 to 8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton

Funeral Service: Tuesday, April 9th at 3:00 pm in the Funeral Home

Interment: Zion Cemetery, Wauseon, Ohio
