Jacqueline Lee (Spengler) Bettinger

Jacqueline Lee Bettinger, 78, of Swanton, Ohio, was greeted into Heaven, Thursday afternoon, September 28, 2023, by her beloved husband Don with “Hello Darling”. 

Jacque was born September 10, 1945 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Wayne and Isabell (Dominique) Spengler.  She was a 1963 graduate of AI School, and on September 10, 1966, she married the love of her life, Donald Lee Bettinger.  He preceded her in death on April 13, 2018.

Jacque was an 18-year breast cancer survivor. Jacque was a member of St. Richard Parish and served on the Harding Township Zoning Board and Board of Zoning Affairs. Jacque enjoyed reading, spending time with family and has many wonderful memories with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Jacque and Don loved taking cruises, and enjoyed spending time at casinos winning a total of 116 royal flushes between the two of them.  She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians fan. Jacque’s greatest passion was cooking. Cooking for her family was her favorite hobby.

Jacque will be dearly missed by her daughter, Renee (Matt) Myers; sons, Scott (Lisa) Bettinger, Chad (Rosalyn) Bettinger; grandchildren, Krystle, Chelsea, Chase, Lance, Brett, Eric, Lauren, Luke, Andrew, Harley and Saylor; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Hunter, Paisley, Kataleya, Garrett, Avery and Millie Sue; brothers, John (Sandy) Spengler; brother and sister-in-law, Tom (Molly) Bettinger and special friend and caregiver, Carol Hernandez.

Besides her husband of 51 years, Don, Jacque was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Marie Bettinger; grandchildren, Baby Boy Bettinger; great-granddaughter, Aila Marie Lane; brothers, Gregory, Danny and Stephen Spengler and nephew, Joshua Bettinger.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 5th from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Scripture Service and Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue Friday, October 6th from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Eric Culler presiding. Interment will follow at Marygrove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Richard Parish, Elara Caring Home & Health Hospice or St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital.
