Iva M. Provo, age 90, of Delta, Ohio, passed away early Sunday morning, November 7, 2010, at the Franklin Methodist Community in Franklin, Indiana. She was born on July 28, 1920, in Lenawee County, Michigan, to Herbert and Hazel (Smith) Whitcomb. She married Charles E. Provo on June 30, 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1987.

Iva was a homemaker and made many beautiful quilts for her family. She was very musically inclined and loved playing the harmonica. She also enjoyed traveling and playing bingo.

She is survived by her children, Charles (Sharon) Provo of Toledo, Ohio, Regina (Ronald) McClure of New Whiteland, Indiana, Jaris (Frank) Jeffries of Napoleon, Ohio, Dallas Provo of Campobello, South Carolina, Herbert Provo of Ohio, and Sheila (James) Burton of Malinta, Ohio; sister, Donna Helminiak of Delta, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Charles, Iva was preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine Brown, Iola Stalhood, Helen Smith and Annabelle Mathers; and brothers, Richard, Glenn and Clarence Whitcomb; daughter-in-law, Brenda Provo and great-granddaughter, Emily Gadus.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday, November 10th from 2-8 p.m., at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419) 826-2631. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11th at the funeral home with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating.

Interment will be at Winameg Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
