Irlyn F. Martin, age 89, of Berkey, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Thursday morning, October 29, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, at Swanton Health Care & Retirement Center. She was born October 10, 1920 in Sylvania, Ohio to Peter and Lucille (Smith) Lemle. On September 26, 1942, she married Raymond Martin at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Richfield Center, Ohio.
Irlyn was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. She loved crocheting and making crafts. Every family member received a hand made afghan as a baby, at graduation and then as a wedding present. Irlyn and her husband enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter and spending time at their trailer in Indiana during the summer months.
Irlyn is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Raymond; daughter, Sharon (John) Pflum of Assumption, OH; son, David (Nicolea) Martin of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Brian (Shawn) Allan, Melissa Allan, Suzanne Salsbury, Kathleen (Tom) Anderzack, Diane (Tyler) King, Anthony (Janet) Martin, Andrew (Marcy) Martin, and Brent (Megan) Martin; 21 grandchildren; sister, Rose Drennan; and brother, Clyde (Betty) Lemle.
Irlyn was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Norbert and Bernard Lemle.
Family and friends may visit Sunday, November 1st from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio, where a Scripture and Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2nd at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Odyssey Hospice, or The Central Association of the Miraculous Medal.
