Irene Louise Hayes, age 88, of Ai, Ohio, died peacefully Friday afternoon, March 4, 2011, surrounded by her loving family, at Spring Meadows Extended Care in Holland. She was born April 29, 1922 in Jerry City, Ohio to Charles and Ethel (Jacobs) Meeker. In January of 1939, she married Luke Hayes. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1985.

Irene was a homemaker and enjoyed time spent with her family. She was a member of Ai Union Church.

Left to cherish Irene’s memory are her son, Charles (LuAnn) Hayes of Toledo, OH; daughter, Beverly (Jerome) Fall of Davenport, FL; 7 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Irene was reunited with her husband, Luke; parents; two sisters; and five brothers.

Family and friends may visit Tuesday, March 8th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where funeral services will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment at Ai Cemetery will be private.
