Howard T. Winters, age 82, of Toledo, Ohio, died peacefully, Tuesday afternoon, February 12, 2013 at Arbors at Waterville. He was born October 17, 1930 in Vero Beach, Florida to Luther and Erma (McCallum) Guy. He attended Georgia State University before being drafted by the U.S. Navy and serving in the Korean War. On May 23, 1985, he married his devoted wife, Rebecca Pupos.
Howard was a professional photographer, artist, poet, and an accomplished musician who played seven instruments. He attended Wilkins United Methodist Church and was a member of VFW Post #2898. He also served as Chaplain on the Lucas County Burial Squad.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Rebecca; daughters, Karen (Carl) Cain and Janice Winters; grandchild, William Hunter Cain; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Rosalie and sister, Isabelle Hallen.
Family and friends may visit Saturday, February 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Schilling and Pastor Daniel Belevia officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Lucas County Burial Squad. Interment will follow at a later date at Amboy Township Cemetery.
