Howard B. Hill, Jr., age 85, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009. He was born January 12, 1924 to Howard and Edith (Zimmerman) Hill in Toledo, Ohio. Howard graduated from Libby High School in 1942 and immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp to serve in WWII. After his service to our country, he was a well-known professional pianist in the Toledo area for the next 63 years. In addition to teaching private piano lessons in pupil's homes, he entertained Toledoans in many different venues. As the Howard Hill Trio, Howard's combo provided dinner and dance music to new and loyal followers at such well-known establishments of the past as The 3-D's Club, Charcoal House, Tivoli, Willows, and for over fifteen years, Billyle's Supper Club on Glendale Avenue. Most recently he has played with the Johnny Knorr Orchestra and has co-written and recorded several songs with Johnny and his band.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard B. Hill, Sr. and Edith, and step-father, Clarence Wahl. Howard is survived by his loving wife, Victoria (Sarkisian) of 55 years; their loving children, Dr. Fred (Cynthia Schuler) Hill of Tampa, Florida, and Denise Stiebeling of Toledo; two loving grandchildren, Katie (Kyle) Young, and Susan Hill, whom Howard adored; step grandchildren, Ted Hueter and Amelia Hueter; and of special note his beloved cat, Daisybell. Howard is also survived by his sons, Dean (Pat) Hill and Rick Hill of Florida and grandchildren.

The family will receive guests Thursday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut in Swanton (419-826-2631). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Larry J. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery with military honors.
