Hollis Edward "Ed" Meadows

Hollis Edward Meadows, age 67, of Delta, Ohio passed away peacefully, Tuesday, March 10, 2015, in his home with his loving family at his side. He was born January 31, 1948 in Cooksville, Tennessee to the late Dewey Edward and Mary Inez (Spurlock) Meadows. On February 16, 2001, he married Barbara Susan Grabowski-Harris-Ziehr.

Ed proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a machinist at Chrysler, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Grand Rapids American Legion Alva N. Sidle Post #232 and the Cousino Club. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He loved being outdoors, surrounded by nature, whether it was tending to his flower garden or camping.

Ed will be remembered as a compassionate, understanding, loving and giving man who never held a grudge. He was always full of life and resiliency.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him, especially, his beloved wife, Barbara; children, John Edward Meadows; Jeremy Ziehr, Jon (Annie) Ziehr, Shaun (Amanda) Ziehr and Chad (Gillian) Ziehr; 6 grandchildren; his siblings, Shirley (Denny) Taylor, Dee DeHaven, Rick (Barb) Meadows; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda Murphy-Meadows; and his sisters, Mary Linda Straub, Patsy Bias, and T. Marie Fitzsimmons.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 13th from 2 to 8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow at Young Cemetery in Liberty Center.
