Herman F. Baus, age 87, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, February 7, 2009 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. He was born December 28, 1921 in Wauseon, Ohio to Peter Baus and Catherine (Erbes) Haas. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Italy and France. On March 2, 1946 he married Frieda Adams. He worked 32 years at Surface Combustion before retiring in 1984.

Herman built his family’s home in Swanton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Frieda; children, Gary (Kathleen) Baus of War Road, MN, Marlene (Stuart) Ferris of Oakwood, OH, Paul Baus of Swanton, OH, Jonathan (Bonnie) Baus of Perrysburg, OH, Brenda Baus of Swanton, OH, Cheryl Baus of Swanton, OH and Katherine (Jim) Campbell of Sylvania, OH; brother, Edward Baus of Archbold, OH; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Carl Baus.

Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, February 10th from 5-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Westgate Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Larry Carey will officiate. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
