Helen Marie Zeigler

Helen Marie Zeigler, age 87, of Holland, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, February 10, 2014, at the Elizabeth Scott Community. Helen was born March 22, 1926 in Chatham, Ohio to Ira Wilbert and Ruth Marie (Hagelbarger) Croul, and was a 1944 graduate of Waterville High School. She married Robert Oma Zeigler on October 4, 1947, and together they raised two sons and a daughter.

Helen worked as an office clerk for Lamson's Department Store in Toledo. She was a member of Living Faith United Methodist Church, and was active with the Church Women's Group. She will be remembered for her wonderful cake decorating talent. She made delicious cakes for all occasions, including weddings and birthdays, and taught cake decorating classes to adults within the Toledo area. Over the years, she was active in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, census recording and voting.

She will be remembered by family and friends for taking charge of anything that needed done in a quiet and loving way.

Left to cherish Helen's memory are her husband of 66 years, Robert O.; sons, Thomas M. (Carolyn) Zeigler and Robert J. (Carol) Zeigler; and daughter, Roberta "Bobbie" J. (Clay) Thurston; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Croul; sister, Joan Gardner; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clarence and Marie Zeigler.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John; sister, Virginia; and infant son, William Robert Zeigler.

Family and friends may visit Saturday, February 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631). Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 15th at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) in the funeral home with Rev. Steve Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Sharples Cemetery.
