Helen Louise Mikola, age 84, of Swanton, Ohio, entered into eternal life, Tuesday morning, June 15, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born December 23, 1925 in Sylvania, Ohio to Jacob and Eva Mae (Flickenger) Ringholz. On June 22, 1942, she married Marcus Mikola. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1992.
Helen was a homemaker, raising her five children. She was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Democratic Ladies, Young at Heart Dance Group, and Swanton Senior Center. She was a very active and proud member of the Swanton American Legion Post #479 Ladies Auxiliary, where she held several officer positions, including past-president, secretary, and treasurer. Helen was a very active woman always doing something.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon (Larry) Brueshaber of Reading, MI, Sandy (Roger) Truckor of Swanton, OH, Marcus, Jr. (Barbara) Mikola of Holland, OH, Susan (Peter) Kludt of Wiamama, FL, and Sally (David) Druckenmiller of Fayetteville, NC; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Weliver of Swanton, OH; and sisters-in-law, Betty Lagger of Toledo, OH and Olive Mikola of Delta, OH.
Besides her husband, Marcus, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean Cacciato and Laura Frosch; step-brother, Lee Donahue, and very special friend, Kenneth Berkebile.
Friends and family may visit Friday, June 18th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m.. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19th, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church. Fr. Robert Holden will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Swanton American Legion or Swanton Public Library.
