Geraldine "Jeri" McNeill

Geraldine “Jeri” McNeill, 93 of Swanton passed away January 5, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Jeri was a 1946 graduate of Swanton High School and a 1948 graduate of Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. She married Edward D. McNeill in 1948 and they moved to Swanton in 1955 after living in Panama, New York, Florida and Rhode Island while Mac was in the Navy.

Jeri is a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was a
volunteer for the Salvation Army, active in the Friends of Swanton Public
Library and served on the Fulton County Health Board for many years. She
was an avid bridge player and played in several bridge groups over the
years whose friendships extended beyond bridge.

Since she was a child, she spent her summers at Lake St. Helen where she
made many lifelong friends that have passed through to each generation. In
1958 she founded Women’s Weekend at the lake, an annual tradition that
countless friends and relatives enjoyed and has extended through three
generations.

Surviving is her daughter, Mona (Frank) Dyke, of Swanton, her
daughter-in-law Pattie McNeill, of Richfield, Ohio, her grandchildren
Mackenzy (Jack) Dennis, of Temperance Michigan, Taylor (Monica) McNeill, of
Toledo and Eva (Cody) Chambers, of Livonia, Michigan, and
great-grandchildren Harper and Oakley Dennis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Eva Harding, her
husband, Edward, and her son, Andrew.

Visitation will be from 10 until 12 Monday, January 10th at Trinity United
Methodist Church in Swanton with a Memorial Service following at 12:00 (Noon). Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to

Guestbook

We will really miss Jeri up at the lake St Helen. Her wit, sense of humor and great conversations! It won't be the same without her. She will always be present in spirit!

Today I say goodbye to the woman who introduced me to shrimp cocktail, champagne (7-UP) and taught me how to make shredded beef sandwiches for football games.
Today I say goodbye to one of the best story tellers I've met.
Today I say goodbye to the gracious hostess of wild teenage parties.
Today I say goodbye to my "Jackie Kennedy"
Today I dress for Jeri, with class and dignity, and Grandma Harding's earrings.
Today I say goodbye to one of my childhood moms.
Love you.

There are so many memories wrapped up with Jeri, her family and friends. She was inclusive, loving and had a great sense of humor which came out in her stories. She was my other mother and she will be in our hearts forever.

Sitting here with Terry Maiers and he wants to say how sorry he is for your loss. He was trying to figure out how to get to the funeral but will not be able to due to the drive and health concerns. We're talking about memories and Mac and Jeri come up. We're all very sad to lose such a beautiful soul and will miss her keen ability to share stories and history of the cottages.
