George Vaughan Williams, age 76, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, January 20, 2009 at Whitehouse Country Manor. He was born October 12, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to George A. and Anna (Vaughan) Williams. His father preceded him in death in 2003.
George is survived by his mother, Anna Williams of Swanton; daughter, Ginny [Chris] Yeary of Aubrey, Texas; three grandchildren, Steve [Nicole] Fox of LasCurces, New Mexico, Jeff [Stacey] Fox of Lake Dallas, Texas and Laura Fox of Lake Dallas, Texas; five great grandchildren, as well as several cousins.
George was a salaried employee for 35 years at Ford Motor Company in the battery division. He was a member of Miracle Farley Trout Club.
George received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy in 1959 where he served as an aviation electrician’s mate. He was credited with developing an aviation heater
ground check unit while serving with Air Anti-Submarine Squadron 36 aboard the aircraft carrier Valley Forge.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 3:00 p.m., at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut Street in Swanton (419-826-2631), where visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Reverend Pat Shafer will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Fulton Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Swanton Rescue Unit.
