Genevieve "Jean" Zalecki

Genevieve “Jean” Zalecki, age 77, of Whitehouse, Ohio, and Deerfield Beach, Florida, entered into eternal life, Wednesday morning, May 9, 2012. She was born June 30, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Richard and Genevieve (Cruse) Nagle. Jean married Albert “Joe” Zalecki on May 29, 1954; he preceded her in death on August 2, 2000. Jean and Albert were part owners and managed KOA Big Sandy Campgrounds for many years. She worked at UTMC as a medical secretary, retiring in 1991.

Jean loved to gamble and travel, she had visited 49 of the 50 states. She had taken numerous trips camping across the country with the entire family. Jean was a member of the Red Hat Society in Florida. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandkids.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Laura (Bill) Holt, Linda (Kevin) McHugh, Joe (Cindy) Zalecki, Jerry (Christine) Zalecki, and Marcy Zalecki; Grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Amanda, Dan, Sean, Nina, Steven, Michael, Geri Ann, Ashley, Jeremy, Miguel, and Josie; 4 Great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Kitty) Nagle; sisters, Sr. Mary Ellen Nagle and Pat Hastings

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sue Silka

Family and friends may gather Friday, May 11th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, where a Vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m.. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Saturday, May 12th at 1:30 pm, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 2:00 p.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church. Interment will follow at a later date in the St. Richard Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Visitation: Friday, May 11th from 2 to 8 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton

Mass of Resurrection: Saturday, May 12th at 2:00 pm at St. Richard Catholic Church

Interment: St. Richard's Memorial Garden
