Gene Helminiak

Eugene J. “Gene” Helminiak, age 58 of Delta, passed away Friday, July 31, 2015. He was born on July 18, 1957 in Wauseon, Ohio to his late father Stanley Helminiak and his mother Donna (Whitcomb) Helminiak.

For over 30 years, Gene was a dedicated and hardworking diesel mechanic and heavy equipment operator at Soul Road Auto Parts. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, especially deer and raccoon, fishing, and searching for wild mushrooms. Gene is also remembered for giving freely of his time, energy, and automotive and handyman skills, always generously assisting family and friends.

Along with his mother, and his wife of 27 years, Judy (Koder), Gene is survived by his daughters, Julia (Ben) King and Autumn (Ashton) Davis; his brother, Stanley (Marsha) Helminiak; his sisters, Vickie (Bill) Hassall, Stella Foote, and Bernadette (Keith) Barth; and his dearest granddaughter, Cambria June Davis, the light of his life.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut in Swanton. A Celebration of Gene's life will immediatley follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Delta.

Private interment will be held at Winameg Cemetery.
