Gary G. Thatcher

Gary G. Thatcher, age 79, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in his home, Tuesday, July 19, 2022. He was born May 6, 1943 in Maumee, Ohio to Gerald and Mabel (Osterhout) Thatcher. Gary was a graduate of Delta High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy.

Gary was a printing press operator for 32 years at The Toledo Blade. He was a member of the Swanton American Legion Post #479 and was a social member of the Swanton VFW Memorial Post #8598.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Therese Reckley; son, Steven Thatcher; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon Relford; brothers, Dale (Lorena) Thatcher and Brad Thatcher; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mabel Thatcher and brother, Bob Thatcher.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 27 th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 am and process to Swanton Cemetery on Centerville Road, where a graveside service will be led by Pastor Donna Stutzman, and conclude with Military Rites conducted by the Swanton American Legion Honor Guard. A funeral luncheon will follow at the Swanton American Legion Hall.
