Gary James Mossburg, Sr., age 61, of Metamora, Ohio, died after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 25, 1948 in Toledo, Ohio, to James H. and Rosemyrle L. Mossburg. He married Julie A. Lawrence on October 8, 1999 in Toledo.
Gary graduated from Bedford High School in 1966. He worked as a dedicated bricklayer for SA Storer Masonry for 40 years, and was a member of the Bricklayers Local 3. Following retirement in 2006, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time around his home, especially around his pond. He would spend hours fishing where he found peace and serenity. He loved college football, especially the Michigan Wolverines. For fun, he loved to sing Karaoke and have Karaoke parties at his home with family and friends. He frequently enjoyed visiting the local restaurants, where he got to know a lot of great people.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Julie; 4 children, Gary (Anna), Charlie (Kris), Jon (Nicole), and Jennifer (Curtis); 5 grandchildren, Kiersten, Ty, Meade, Mercy, and Mya; father, James (Gloria); 5 siblings, Darrell (Sandi), Marlene, Darla (Gary), Diane (Dave), and Cheryl (Rick); as well as his two best buds, Cody and Chloe (his dogs); and special friends “The County Road T Gang”.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemyrle.
Friends and family may visit Saturday, January 30th from 2 to 6 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St., in Metamora, where funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Rev. Donna Stutzman will officiate. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
