Fredric George Barba, age 72, of Tiffin, Ohio, entered into eternal life Thursday morning, May 10, 2012, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. He was born February 7, 1940 in Metamora, Ohio to Paul Cruz and Jane (Russell) Barba. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Assumption and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Fred obtained his Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Toledo. He started out working in the accounting department for Hausman Steel and Cooper Tire. He went on to work as school treasurer for North Baltimore, Tiffin City Schools, and Perrysburg School District, from which he retired. On October 25, 1991, he married his beloved wife, Janis Hudson Barba.
Growing up as a child in Metamora, his greatest memories were working on the Simon Farm, serving the church every Sunday morning as an altar boy, and Boy Scouting, where he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. He also enjoyed helping Larry Malone with duties around the funeral home.
As an adult, Fred loved spending time at the lake house on Lake Erie, boating, and traveling to the islands. He enjoyed collecting military history books and biographies, and watching ball games--especially the Cleveland Indians.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 20 years, Janis; children, Steven (Kristina) Barba, Stephannie Barba, Stacy (John) Corbin, and Scott Barba; stepchildren, Richard (Zelka) Hudson, Cheryl (Daniel) Hudson Eyster, and Michelle (Richard) Hudson-Ross; 10 grandchildren (plus one on the way); 1 great-grandson; sister, Judith (Lynn) Ott; as well as several nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Thomas Paul Barba.
