Frederick G. "Fritz" Mossing

Frederick G. “Fritz” Mossing age 72, of Metamora, Ohio, was taken by angels on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Fritz was born July 1, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Frederick I. And Naomi B. (Scheuer) Mossing. Fritz graduated in 1960 from St. Mary’s School in Assumption. On September 15, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Mildred Horak. In 1973, he obtained his Banking Degree from the University of Wisconsin.

During his high school years and early adulthood, Fritz worked as a custodian at the Metamora State Bank. He worked his way up to a job as a bank teller, and ultimately, serving as President. All together, he worked for the bank for 46 years, retiring in 2007. After retirement, Fritz continued to serve on the bank board. He also served as Past Chairman and Board of Director for Community Bankers Association of Ohio, 20-years with the Fulton County Crime Stoppers, and was a member of the Sylvania Chamber of Commerce and Sylvania Rotary.

Fritz was very active in the community of Metamora. He was a volunteer Fire Fighter for a total of 30 years, 13 of which he served as Assistant Chief, he was on the committee that started and organized the Metamora Park-O-Rama for 30 years, and he co-chaired the Metamora Centennial.

As a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Fritz served on the Church Festival Finance Committee and St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Fritz will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Mildred; son, Matt (Jackie Motycka) Mossing; daughters, Cathy Mossing, Chris (Dan) Zirkle and Connie (Brad) Reichert; and nine grandchildren, who were the joy in his life, Chad, Cory, Haili, Kyle, Sydney, Riley, Izzie, Jack and Nicklaus; brother, Charlie (Barb) Mossing;

Family and friends may visit Sunday, January 18th from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, where a Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Monday, January 19th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Mass of Resurrection: Monday, January 19th at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption
