Francis "Frank" J. Lendecker

Francis "Frank" J. Lendecker, 85, of Maumee, Ohio, fell asleep in death on Friday, January 3, 2025 after enduring a long battle with cancer with great courage and patience.

Frank’s life was defined by service and hard work. He served in the U.S. Navy for four and a half years and soon after he joined the Toledo Fire Department, where he dedicated twenty-five years, retiring in 1990. Frank also earned the trust and admiration of repeat clients for decades as a painter and wallpaper hanger. For sixteen years he volunteered driving veterans to the VA Hospital, a role that gave him a special opportunity to contribute.

An avid golfer, Frank enjoyed playing in the Toledo Firefighters League and the American Legion Post 553 Golf League. He also participated in the Toledo Firefighters Bowling and Softball Leagues. Frank loved outdoor adventures, including fishing and hunting trips, and was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and Notre Dame football. He delighted in hosting summer gatherings at his home, where family and friends enjoyed pool parties, volleyball games, and his famous “hobo dinner.” In the fall, he looked forward to making homemade kielbasa with his brother and nephew, a tradition that brought them together year after year.

During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, spring training baseball games, beach walks, and spending time with his grandchildren alongside his beloved wife, Lee, his partner of 54 years. Later in life Frank developed an interest in reading and studying the Bible. This led him to a relationship with Jehovah God that enriched his life and brought him much comfort during his illness.

Frank was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kayla Scribner; parents, Adrian Lendecker and Helen (Zientkowski) Therrien; his siblings, Ronald (Joanne) Lendecker, Dolores (Robert) Slowinski and Margaret (George) Martin.

He will be sorely missed by his wife, Lenorah Lee; his children, Brad (Shelly) Gillen, Karen (Jeff) Scribner, Robin (Greg) Pasler, and Lisa (Jeremy) Maziarz; his grandchildren, Tara (Nathan) Hefty, Nicholas (Amber) Pasler, Jillian (Thomas) Webster, Haaley (Tyler) Moreland, and Jordan Scribner; his great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Ann (Ronald) Scott and Kathy (Robert) Murray; and many relatives and close friends.

Frank’s love will remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 11th from 12 pm (Noon) to 1:30 pm at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton, where a Last Alarm Service will be held at 12:15 pm and a funeral service at 1:30 pm.
